For my fall term 2022 advanced soft goods studio, I designed and sewed a set of three pieces for our final project. I titled this collection Hāfu (ハーフ, "half"), which is a Japanese term used to refer to a person ethnically half Japanese and half non-Japanese. This collection is made up of a kimono style dress, a corset and wrap tie pants that fuse traditional Japanese and western styles into single pieces as an expression of my Japanese American cultural background.
